Tuition fees are reviewed annually. Tuition fees may be adjusted upward after the first year of enrollment to reflect increases in cost-of-living or program requirements (maximum 3%).
Costs not covered in tuition:
-
Housing: Students must make their own living and travel arrangements and pay their own personal expenses directly. For the first 24 months, the Academy's program requires students to attend periodic teaching intensives in Florida. Students who do not live locally must arrange for short-term accommodations during these intensives. The clinical internship in the third year is residential and will require longer-term housing. Housing expenses will vary widely depending on the size and location of housing desired and the time of year. Many students choose to share the cost of accommodations with classmates.
- Travel and Local Transportation: Travel and transportation costs related to attending class depend on the distance of the student's residence in relation to Gainesville, Florida.
- Corequisite Courses: The cost of obtaining corequisite course credits is not included in tuition. The costs of obtaining these credits will vary depending on the student's prior training and the tuition costs at the institution(s) chosen for corequisite courses. In the past, some Academy students have found that taking subject-specific challenge exams offered by regionally accredited institutions such as Excelsior College is a good way to obtain corequisite credit. These exams are accepted by the Academy for a range of required and elective corequisite courses. These challenge exams are generally inexpensive. Excelsior usually charges fees of under $50/credit, and comprehensive home study guides are available to help students prepare for the exams. Other students choose to obtain their corequisite credits by taking courses at local community colleges during intersessions. These courses are also usually relatively inexpensive. Still others choose flexible online learning courses offered by high quality institutions such as St. Petersburg College eCampus , Huntington College of Health Sciences and Sante Fe College .
