Community Clinic
Every Monday evening, we offer a minimal-cost community clinic.
We offer the NADA protocol, a standardized and internationally-recognized acupuncture procedure where needles are placed in only the patient’s ears. After the needles are inserted, the patient remains still for 30-45 minutes. This treatment only costs $5 for the general public and is offered for free to military veterans and their families. Many patients who come to this clinic cannot afford even our low-cost student clinic. Some patients have been visiting this clinic regularly for years.
The ADS provider reports doing an average of 10–15 treatments per week with many more brief interventions using seeds or beads for acupressure. Using questionnaires he has found that 80% of the patients report reductions in chronic pain, stress, depression and anxiety, fear, and substance cravings with the use of acudetox as well as improvement in self-esteem and clear thinking.
Calm and Relaxation
Minimal needles with maximum effect
Community clinic is known for its benefits for agitation, insomnia, PTSD, depression, and substance abuse. The environment is made as calm and peaceful as possible with low lights and soothing music. We call this our “Monday night chill time”. However, our current clinic space is only equipped with upright chairs, not optimal for achieving deep relaxation in a short time. Reclining “zero-gravity” chairs are common in community clinic settings, and we would like to offer these for our patients.
