Grounds for Disciplinary Action
A student may be expelled, suspended, placed on probation, disqualified or warned for any of the following causes:
- Cheating, plagiarism, or forgery in coursework or school documents. Use of cell phones and any recording device is prohibited during any exam.
- Obstruction, disruption, physical abuse, theft, misuse, unauthorized entry, sexual harassment, engaging in lewd, obscene or abusive behavior, or threat of same in relation to campus property, processes, or members of the school community.
- Willful disregard of school policy.
- The sale, possession, or use of illegal drugs or narcotics except when lawfully prescribed for medical care or research. Attending class or clinic under the influence of drugs or alcohol. (Specific regulations related to the clinic are found in the clinic manuals.)
- Practicing acupuncture or Oriental medicine without a license valid in the State where practicing, unless under formal clinical supervision of the school.
- Possession or use of explosives, dangerous chemicals or deadly weapons.
- Soliciting or assisting another in the acts stated above.
(The above violations reflect willful disregard for professional conduct and, in most cases, first offenses will result is dismissal from the program. Any such incident may be indicated on the student’s transcript.)
- Insufficient academic performance, including excessive absences.
- Failure to meet the standards for safety, behavior, or dress and appearances as described in the Clinic Handbook.
Conducting any business enterprise on or around the school’s premises without the expressed, written approval of the Academy. - Soliciting or assisting another in acts stated above.
